BACKGROUND

In March 2020, several organizations in the Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro (SAW) region joined together to disburse critical funding and resources to underserved communities during the COVID-19 pandemic, including those experiencing housing insecurity. As the short-term impacts of the pandemic began to lessen, the group turned their attention toward our region’s more persistent housing challenges that remained, from addressing homelessness to providing accessible housing to our local workforce.

WHO IS PRESENTING THIS SUMMIT?

In the spirit of convening stakeholders in our community to catalyze solutions that house everyone, the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge, Augusta Health, Valley Homeless Connection, Valley Community Services Board, and the Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission joined together to present this summit for our community.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE SUMMIT

The Summit will take place over the course of a day and a half, and will incorporate a variety of speakers, facilitated discussions, and brainstorming sessions.  It will conclude with an action-focused discussion to chart a path forward. Summit participants will leave more informed about the state of housing in our region and the impact of chronic housing insecurity on individuals and families. Participants will also leave better connected to the network of housing stakeholders in our region and to available resources.

Most importantly, participants will work together to create a framework for more impactful collaboration and housing investments.
