COMING TOGETHER TO CREATE SOLUTIONS THAT HOUSE EVERYONE
in Augusta County, Staunton, and Waynesboro (SAW) in Virginia.
Lunch & Learn 2026!
Join SAW Housing for a casual Lunch & Learn focused on ALICE!

What is ALICE?
ALICE stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. It refers to working individuals and families who earn above the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) but do not earn enough to afford basic necessities such as housing, food, childcare, and healthcare. As a result, ALICE households often face difficult financial choices and may go without essential needs despite being employed.

Why is ALICE important to SAW Housing?
Understanding ALICE helps SAW Housing identify and support individuals and families who fall into a critical gap—earning too much to qualify for traditional assistance programs, yet not enough to achieve financial stability. By recognizing the challenges faced by ALICE households, SAW Housing can better inform programs, partnerships, and solutions that promote housing stability and long-term economic well-being.
